How to attract European Institutional Investors in Africa

Morné is an accomplished private equity investment professional with a passion for impact infrastructure investment in Africa. He co-founded Infra Impact Investment Managers with its Infra Impact Mid-Market Infrastructure Fund 1 reaching final close with investor commitments of ZAR 2.1 billion, exceeding its target by over 40%. The Fund is deploying capital in line with the teams historically successful mid-market, value-add infrastructure strategy, in the water, waste, energy, telecommunications, and related sectors. Infra Impact believes the market opportunity remains unprecedented, with trillions of Rands of investment required in sustainable infrastructure across South Africa to support job creation and economic growth.

Previously, he was a consultant for a Sub-Saharan Africa focused impact investing Private Equity fund. Prior thereto, he was an Executive Director and Investment Manager at a Stellenbosch based Private Equity firm, where he served as a non-executive director on the boards of various investee companies. Other roles include that of Investment Analyst and Nuclear Engineer.

He completed his MBA at UCT full time, which including studies at Cambridge University in the UK. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program, and Private Equity & Venture Capital Program, in Boston, USA, as well as a CFA Charterholder. Also, he is a member of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IoDSA), having achieved the professional Chartered Director (SA) designation by the IoDSA.
