Development for Impact: A use case from a metropolitan city near Cape Town

Catherine Stone is a built environment, public sector governance specialist and professional urban planner. Her practice is focussed on the integration of development planning with public finance and sector planning – towards more practical and implementable plans that achieve the spatial transformation of South African cities, with a particular passion for well-located affordable housing. Catherine has 24 years of professional experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors in South Africa and the UK. 11 of these years were in senior management in local government for the most part as the former Director of Spatial Planning and Urban Design at the City of Cape Town. Catherine is currently the Director of Spatial Planning in the regional government of the Western Cape.
